CRAWLER

Commonly, there are two types of boom used in mobile cranes, lattice boom or telescoping boom. Unlike lattice boom, telescoping boom can vary its boom length easily. Furthermore, it does not require any assemble during arrival to the site. You can also find this boom very common in any type of carriers. Although the boom can be extended or shortened, it is currently possible to only do it without any loads. Another advantage of the telescoping boom is that by shortening the boom, the crane is easier to be stored as it is more compact.

Here are a list of advantages and disadvantages of a crawler crane:

Disadvantages:

Heavier than lattice boom

Boom length is not adjustable when load is attached

Advantages:

Adjustable boom length

Requires less space to store

Versatility with its choice of carriers
